Angry Kitty by Tambako the JaguarEverything we do begins in our thought life. We plan everything in our minds, subconsciously or consciously before we put it into action.

Now you may be thinking:
But there are many I things I do without even thinking about them.

Here’s why:
If you did not consciously think about something you were doing, then it is already a habit.
If it is already a habit, you did once make a conscious decision about it. You followed a conscious plan. Then it became a habit that you now do without thinking. This habit may even have been formed years ago. Your mind is now programmed and with all the details (including your attitudes towards the project) to perform the task).

Can an old habit be changed then?
Of course. The first thing you need to do to change a habit is to be aware that it is already a part of your life. Recognize it and own it.

Denial won’t change anything. The negative always works in the dark while the positive works in the light.

It is good to make a point of being consciously alert to things you do and say. You can do this by making a decision such as: “today I am going to check up on myself. I will watch every move, and take note of everything I say”.

When you find something you don’t like ask yourself:

  • Why did I do that?
  • How can I change this reaction?
  • What positive things can affirmations can I say and think that will erase the thought pattern that caused this reaction?

For example:
Suddenly you notice that you are starting to speak negative things about a situation you were once very positive about. Has this ever happened to you? What happened?

  • Perhaps you were listening to negative comments around you, and you did not ACTIVELY combat them in your mind. They were allowed to sneak into your subconscious unnoticed by you.
  • Perhaps you were getting tired of a reoccurring situation and started to doubt it would ever change.
  • Perhaps you did not see the expected results of a project you were working on in the time frame you set. So you started to doubt.

One of the key words in the above possibilities is doubt. This needs to change. A positive person walks in FAITH. A negative person is always doubting something.

Do you see what kind of things can subtly influence your mindset with seeds of negativity?

Tweet thisSo what can you do? Immediately decide you are going to meet every negative thought from within or word from without with a POSITIVE AFFIRMATION. You may speak out this affirmation or if that would cause problems from those around you, speak them deliberately and clearly in your mind.

I am presently working through a 30 day affirmation course (or it could be done in 30 steps, with each step being completed in a time frame that your schedule allows). You can’t stick with something like that without your life being changed!

You may not be able to change the people and influences around you, but you can sure stop them from influencing YOUR life. And I know you WILL stop them because:
